Sergi Roberto Carnicer is a renowned Spanish footballer, recognized for his versatility and significant contributions to FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Roberto’s football journey began in the youth ranks of UE Santes Creus and later Gimnàstic de Tarragona, before joining Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy in 2006.
Roberto’s talent was evident early on, and he quickly progressed through Barcelona’s youth system. He made his debut for Barcelona B in 2009 and soon after, in 2010, he debuted for the first team. His first La Liga appearance came on May 21, 2011, and he scored his first goal for the club in a UEFA Champions League match against BATE Borisov on December 6, 2011.
Throughout his career at Barcelona, Roberto has been a key player, known for his adaptability on the field. Primarily a central midfielder, he has also played as a right-back, defensive midfielder, and winger. Roberto’s versatility was particularly highlighted during the 2015-2016 season under manager Luis Enrique, where he played in multiple positions.
Roberto’s tenure at Barcelona has been decorated with numerous titles, including seven La Liga championships and two UEFA Champions League trophies. Off the field, Sergi Roberto is married to Israeli model Coral Simanovich, with whom he has a child. The couple married in Tel Aviv on May 30, 2018.
